Football: Erik ten Hag is the new coach of Bayer Leverkusen

Milan, 26 May (LaPresse) – Bayer Leverkusen has appointed former Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag as Xabi Alonso's replacement. The Bundesliga club announced on Monday that 55-year-old Ten Hag has signed a contract until 2027. He inherits a team that finished second in the Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the German Cup after winning both competitions under Alonso last season. Alonso left the German bench to take charge of Real Madrid. It is Ten Hag's first job since being sacked as United manager in October 2024. The Dutch coach won two domestic cups in his two-and-a-half years in charge of the Red Devils but was sacked after the club's worst start to a season, with four defeats in nine league games.
