Florence, 5 June (LaPresse) – ‘We don’t want yet another “negotiation” to be taking place to produce a “normalised truth”: we want the real truth, not a tamed version of the truth’. This was stated today in a press release by the Association of Relatives of the Victims of the Via dei Georgofili bombing in Florence, regarding the investigation into the hidden instigators of the 1993 bombings, which saw former Forza Italia senator Marcello Dell’Utri under investigation, though the case against him has been dismissed by the investigating magistrate. “ We hope that this is merely a ‘technical’ dismissal, as has happened in the past, for example with Bellini, but that the line of inquiry already initiated by Tescaroli may instead be resumed and continued, as there is no shortage of ongoing proceedings in Florence where facts and circumstances of some significance are emerging,” adds the Association of Relatives of the Victims of the Via dei Georgofili Massacre. ‘We would not want yet another “negotiation” to be underway to produce a “normalised truth” that does not harm the political system,’ the statement continues. ‘Let the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission and the public prosecutors investigate thoroughly, and let there be a way to reach public trials for the benefit of all.’ The families of the victims of the Via dei Georgofili massacre are calling for “a concrete and responsible realisation on the part of those who, by breaking the wall of silence, would be able to provide, through their testimony, that piece of information at their disposal – the importance of which they, through no fault of their own, failed to perceive – which could be precisely the missing piece needed to re-establish and prove the truth, including in a judicial context”.
