Milan, 11 July (LaPresse) – The arrest of Mohamed Saidi, the 27-year-old Algerian detained on suspicion of slashing a 22-year-old woman on the platform at Milan’s Duomo metro station on Thursday 9 July, has been upheld. The decision was made by investigating magistrate Cristian Mariani at the conclusion of the remand hearing, which took place this morning at San Vittore prison. “Mohamed made some statements, he spoke, he was calm and gave his version of events,” explained Mara Bracco, the 27-year-old’s lawyer, after the hearing. The offence with which Saidi is charged – he has pleaded not guilty and rejected the allegations – is causing permanent disfigurement to the face, with the aggravating circumstances of trivial motives and a clear danger to society.
