Genoa, 15 July (LaPresse) – “At this very moment, we are awaiting the first-instance verdict on the Morandi Bridge tragedy, with the same desire for the truth felt by the victims’ families, the people of Genoa and all Italians.” This was stated by Arrigo Giana, Chief Executive of the Autostrade per l’Italia Group, in an open letter on the eve of the first verdict in the trial concerning the disaster which, on 14 August 2018, claimed the lives of 43 people caught up in the collapse of the Genoa motorway viaduct.” “We all remember, as if it were yesterday, that morning of 14 August 2018,” he emphasised. “I was one of the millions of citizens who stood transfixed in front of their television screens, watching the dramatic images of that tragedy unfolding in Genoa. In those moments, everyone’s thoughts turned to the innocent victims, to their families, whose lives had been irreparably shattered, and to the injured being cared for by heroic rescue workers.”
