Rome, 5 Mar. (LaPresse) – ‘Today we discover that we have to rearm because there is the threat of Putin. I think, with regard to von der Leyen's plan, that two things must be distinguished: aid to Ukraine if the US no longer does it, and a military investment plan that makes sense and not made in haste without logic. To buy a drone or a supersonic missile, a tank, you don't go to the supermarket, you need multi-year investments'. This was said by Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, in a video link-up with the conference of the League's Economics Department ‘National interest and global scenarios’. ‘We need to keep a cool head, to reason and not get into the syndrome that in other times made us go and buy vaccines at unbelievable prices, or buy gas with skyrocketing prices. Please let's avoid that,' he added, stressing that “when we go into debt, since we are precluded from doing so for morally important things, we must do it with reason”.
