EU, Conte: ‘PD in great difficulty over rearmament, abstention is inadmissible’

Rome, 13 March (LaPresse) – ‘Yesterday we saw a Democratic Party that has objectively split, a party in great difficulty’ with regard to Ursula von der Leyen's plan. ‘I can speak about the coherence of my political force and I don't think it's appropriate to get into other people's business, but if you ask my opinion I'd say that abstention is the most incomprehensible thing. Faced with a von der Leyen who is throwing away 800 billion wasted on armaments, in no particular order and without any idea of a common defence, to say ‘I'm not going to take a stand’… well, abstention is not acceptable’. So said the M5S leader Giuseppe Conte, speaking on “Il rosso e il nero” on Radio1.
