Rome, 27 May (LaPresse) – ‘On the electoral law, I do not deny that the majority has decided to try to address some of the demands put forward by the opposition, despite the fact that they have shown no willingness to cooperate.’ So said Giovanni Donzelli, head of organisation for Fratelli d’Italia, speaking in the Constitutional Affairs Committee following protests from the opposition. “We are working on it, of course we have,” he added, “and out of respect for this committee, we had decided to wait until the end of the general debate for any additions to the text following further suggestions.” ‘We are not blind to useful suggestions,’ he continued. ‘But if you tell us you do not wish to make any contribution, we take note of that. But do not accuse us of a lack of respect, because we have acted with the utmost respect for your role and that of Parliament.’
