Milan, 27 May (LaPresse) – “The Government’s approach to the safety of sporting events is based on a comprehensive system of prevention, monitoring and enforcement, developed through the work of the National Observatory on Sporting Events, the Analysis Committee for the Safety of Sporting Events and the provincial public security authorities. The data confirm the effectiveness of the measures adopted: looking at football seasons from 2022/2023 to the present day, the number of matches involving incidents has fallen by 44%, from 210 to 118.” This was stated by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, during Question Time in the Chamber of Deputies. ‘The most significant figure concerns those involving injuries,’ he said. ‘Over the same period, these have fallen by 56%, from 114 to 50. There has also been a sharp decline in the number of injuries among police officers, down by 41%, in line with the general trend showing a clear decrease in the number of injuries among civilians and stewards as well.’
