Rome, 10 June (LaPresse) – ‘Today I heard the Prime Minister say that industrial production continues to grow. Evidently, she hasn’t noticed that industrial production has fallen during her three and a half years in government.’ So said Democratic Party secretary Elly Schlein, on the sidelines of the ceremony to name the Monteverde PD branch in Rome after former minister Valeria Fedeli. The Democratic Party leader commented thus on Meloni’s speech at today’s Confcommercio Assembly. “Italy must start growing again,” added Schlein, “it must produce and become competitive once more. The first issue that needs addressing is the cost of energy. We must invest more, as other countries have done, in clean and renewable energy. And if we now have a little more leeway due to European regulations, we must do what the government, in its ideological war on renewables, has failed to do over the past four years. We in the opposition are ready to lend a hand on this. That is to say, to outline what needs to be done to reduce energy costs and bills. This would give the country the momentum to grow.”
