Rome, 31 Oct. (LaPresse) – The times we are living through “are not easy; they are particularly complex times, in which uncertainty is a pervasive feature; at times, it is even unpredictability that seems to characterise these years in international affairs. But this uncertainty suggests that, in reality, the future is not predetermined; it depends on us. It must be shaped, and it must be shaped in particular by young people who are preparing to take on – or have already taken on – the leadership of our society.” So said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in his address at the Quirinale to students from the Villa Nazareth University College. “It is this act of building, this translating of values into concrete actions, this shaping of our society that is your task, guided by your alumni. And it is a task that our country desperately needs, just as, in truth, the entire global community needs it,” added the Head of State. “That is why the gratitude I express for this role is truly sincere, because Villa Nazareth embodies – as an alternative to resignation and withdrawal into oneself – the assumption of responsibility and the building of a future based on positive values. This second path inspires responsibility, instils confidence, and we need it.”
