Cycling: Pogacar Wins Strade Bianche and Completes Hat-Trick

Milan, Mar 8 (LaPresse) – An incredible Tadej Pogacar overcame a crash to claim a dominant victory in the 2025 Strade Bianche Crédit Agricole, the first Italian UCI WorldTour race organized by RCS Sport, now in its 19th edition.

The Slovenian rider from UAE Team Emirates equaled Fabian Cancellara’s record of three wins in the Tuscan race, which starts and finishes in Siena’s Piazza del Campo after 213 km.

Pogacar, already the winner in 2022 and 2024, produced a remarkable performance. With 50 km to go, he slipped on a gravel section while descending a curve, crashing into a ditch while breaking away alongside Britain’s Thomas Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team). Fortunately, he was unharmed, quickly got back on his bike, and caught up with Pidcock.

Then, with 18 km remaining, on an uphill gravel section, Pogacar launched a powerful attack, dropping Pidcock and riding solo to the finish line in Siena.

The British rider showed great determination to finish second, over a minute behind. Belgium’s Tim Wellens (UAE Team Emirates) completed the podium, finishing more than two minutes behind Pogacar.
