Tennis, Novak Djokovic will return to the court at the Shanghai Masters 1000

Milan, Sept. 23 (LaPresse) – Novak Djokovic will return to the court at the Shanghai Masters 1000, scheduled from September 29 to October 12 at the Qi Zhong Tennis Center. “I am very happy to announce that I will return to Shanghai for the Rolex Shanghai Masters. I have had great success in Shanghai over the years and I look forward to seeing you all during the Golden Week at the Rolex Shanghai Masters,” Djokovic wrote in a message on his social media profiles.

Defeated in last year’s final by Jannik Sinner, Djokovic will play in Shanghai for the first time since losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open semifinals. The Serbian is the most successful player in the tournament’s history, having won in 2012 (against Andy Murray in the final), 2013 (defeating Juan Martin Del Potro), 2015 (over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga), and 2018 (against Borna Coric in the final).

“Having Novak, the most successful player in history, at the Rolex Shanghai Masters, who also won [the Nitto ATP Finals] here in 2008, is extraordinary,” said tournament director Michael A. Luévano. “Every match he plays at this stage of his career is historic. We couldn’t be happier.”
