Turin, 18 January (LaPresse) – Tommaso Giacomel finished fifth in the pursuit race that completed the Biathlon World Cup stage in Ruhpolding, Germany: five shooting errors (1-2-1-1) for the Trentino athlete, who saw his chance to achieve his fifth consecutive podium finish in the top circuit slip away only in the final straight. The victory went to Norway’s Johannes Dale Skjevdal (0-0-1-0), who climbed from tenth position at the start to overtake France’s Eric Perrot (2-0-0-1) in the final lap and win in 30’23‘9, 4’9 ahead of the Frenchman. Giacomel leaves Ruhpolding still at the top of the overall standings with 736 points, followed by Perrot (654), who overtakes Samuelsson (640). The Frenchman ousts the Italian from the top of the discipline standings: 307 points for Perrot against 296 for the Primiero native, with Samuelsson third on 264. On Thursday 22 January, the stage in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic) will begin, featuring individual short, mixed and mass start events.
