Milan, Aug. 22 (LaPresse) – George Russell of Mercedes won the Sprint race at the Dutch Grand Prix at the Zandvoort circuit. Starting from pole position, the British driver finished ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and reigning world champion Lando Norris of McLaren. The Monegasque driver put in an excellent performance, highlighted by a spectacular overtake on Norris on the 18th lap. Championship leader Kimi Antonelli finished fourth in the other Mercedes, followed by Australian Oscar Piastri in the McLaren, Max Verstappen in the Red Bull, and the second Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton in seventh. The British driver is among those being investigated for a suspected violation of the procedure during the formation lap. For Russell, this was his third Sprint victory. Rain arrived at the Dutch circuit right at the end of the race, but it had no consequences for the drivers. Qualifying for tomorrow’s race is scheduled for this afternoon.
