Frankfurt (Germany), May 5 (LaPresse) – Germany’s far-right AfD party has filed a lawsuit against the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the country’s domestic intelligence agency, for classifying the party as right-wing extremist. According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, which cited a party spokesperson, the AfD had previously sent a warning letter with a deadline set for Monday morning at 8:00, claiming that both the classification as a "confirmed right-wing extremist organization" and the announcement of this designation were clearly unlawful. If the intelligence office did not comply with the warning sent on Friday, the AfD's federal leadership stated that it would make public an already prepared legal complaint and file an urgent appeal with the relevant court on Monday.
