Luxembourg, 9 October (LaPresse) – The European Parliament rejected the motion of no confidence against Ursula von der Leyen, tabled by The Left group, by 383 votes against, 133 in favour and 78 abstentions, out of a total of 594 voters. In the motion of no confidence put forward by the right (first signatory Gheorghe Piperea of ECR) voted on 10 July, President von der Leyen had only received 360 majority votes, compared to the 401 with which she had taken office on 18 July 2024. “I deeply appreciate the strong support I have received today. The Commission will continue to work closely with the European Parliament to address the challenges facing Europe. And together we will deliver results for all European citizens. United for our people, our values and our future,” wrote the President of the European Commission on X, after the two motions of no confidence were rejected by the European Parliament.
