Milan, 9 October (LaPresse) – Israeli President Isaac Herzog has cancelled an event scheduled for Sunday to mark the Sukkot holiday in light of US President Donald Trump’s “imminent visit” to Israel. The announcement was made by Herzog’s office. ‘In light of the expected release of hostages’ and the ‘imminent visit of US President Donald Trump to Israel, the presidency has decided to cancel this year’s Open Sukkah event, which was scheduled for Sunday, 12 October,’ reads the statement, reported by the Times of Israel. ‘The decision was made due to the expected security closures in Jerusalem in connection with the visit and the historic developments that will take place in the coming days,’ added the note from Herzog’s office. Trump himself has stated that he will visit Israel and is likely to deliver a speech to the Knesset, although no official date has yet been announced.
