Cybersecurity, Qantas airline attacked: data of 5.7 million customers online

Rome, Oct 12 (LaPresse) – Following a hacker attack on Australian airline Qantas, the data of 5.7 million customers has been leaked on the dark web. The hackers claim to have disclosed the personal data after the ransom payment deadline expired, which had been set following the cyberattack in June. The airline is one of over 40 companies worldwide involved in the hacker attack, which is said to contain up to 1 billion customer records. Last week, the hacker collective Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters issued an extortion demand requesting payment in exchange for halting the sharing of the stolen data. The stolen data included email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and customers’ frequent flyer numbers. According to leaks, the data did not include credit card details, financial information, or passport details.
