Ukraine: Budapest, preparations underway for Trump-Putin meeting

Rome, 17 October (LaPresse) – Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjartó said that “preparations” for the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest “are in full swing”. “I have just spoken with Yuri Ushakov, President Putin’s foreign policy adviser,” he wrote on X. ‘Having consistently fought for peace since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Hungary is ready to host the US-Russia summit. We will ensure all the conditions for productive talks, so that peace can finally return to Europe,’ he added, reporting that he had also spoken with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
