Jerusalem, Dec. 12 (LaPresse) – The United States has submitted a request to Israel to cover the costs for debris removal in the Gaza Strip. According to a senior political source cited by Ynet, Tel Aviv has accepted the request for now, but will initially proceed with clearing only one neighborhood in Rafah, in a project whose estimated cost ranges from tens to hundreds of millions of shekels. Subsequently, and in light of the Arab and international refusal to finance debris removal, Israel is expected to be required to clear the entire Strip, with the estimated cost of the entire operation, which will last years, exceeding one billion dollars.
