Rome, 27 January (LaPresse) – It was a soldier, not a settler, who stopped the two Italian carabinieri on Sunday near Ramallah in the West Bank. This is the reconstruction provided by the IDF to Rai in Jerusalem and reported by the Rainews website. The IDF explained that the vehicle carrying the two Carabinieri was travelling through a closed military zone and the soldier had classified the vehicle as suspicious because he did not immediately recognise the diplomatic number plate. For this reason, he pointed his weapon at them. However, the IDF added that as soon as the passengers identified themselves as diplomats, the soldier immediately released them.
