Milan, 30 May (LaPresse) – Six years ago, controversial emails were handed over to Buckingham Palace which allegedly showed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, shared confidential government information whilst serving as the UK’s trade envoy. The BBC reports this, citing court documents. According to the BBC, it has emerged that in 2020 an archive of 30,000 emails, containing information on the former prince’s controversial financial dealings, was handed over to the Lord Chamberlain, the Royal Household’s most senior official. The emails had been obtained from a personal business contact of Andrew. When asked what had become of the emails, Buckingham Palace replied: “As a police investigation concerning Mr Mountbatten-Windsor is ongoing, we are unable to comment on these matters.” Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested in February, on his 66th birthday, on charges of abuse of office, following allegations that he had passed on confidential government information to financier Jeffrey Epstein whilst serving as the government’s trade envoy; Andrew, who was subsequently released pending investigation, denies all charges.
