Rome, 2 June (LaPresse) – The United States is considering the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in other European NATO member states, in addition to the six countries that currently host nuclear-capable bombers. The Financial Times reports this, explaining that the move is intended to reassure allies that a reduction in conventional military support does not weaken security guarantees. According to the business and financial newspaper, some countries on NATO’s eastern flank, including Poland and certain Baltic states, have expressed an interest in hosting DCA (Defence Control Area) bases, dual-capability aircraft capable of carrying out nuclear strikes.
