Washington (USA), 16 June (LaPresse/AP) – US law enforcement agencies have foiled ‘planned attacks’ that were set to target the UFC cage fighting event held at the White House last weekend. This was announced by FBI Director Kash Patel, who added that several people had been taken into custody. Five people were arrested in Ohio, Missouri and California, said a law enforcement official familiar with the matter. The FBI became aware of the potential threat on 10 June, four days before the mixed martial arts event on the South Lawn of the White House, “and thanks to the swift action of the FBI, our partners and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, several people are now in custody and the allegedly planned attacks have been foiled,” Patel wrote in a post on social media platform X. The UFC event was organised to celebrate President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and the nation’s 250th anniversary.
