Brussels, 22 June (LaPresse) – Two Hamas militants, who had taken part in attacks against Israeli troops, were killed in Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip over the weekend. This was reported by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), as cited by The Times of Israel. An air strike in northern Gaza on Saturday killed Ahmad Munir Khalil Zaza, head of engineering for Hamas’s West Jabalia Battalion, according to the army. The IDF states that Zaza was involved in the production and distribution of weapons to the battalion’s fighters and was responsible for constructing explosive devices and planting booby traps in homes. “Recently, Zaza attempted to plant explosive devices near the Yellow Line to target Israeli troops operating in the area,” the army said. In another air strike in northern Gaza, Hussein Safadi, commander of Hamas’s sniper unit in Gaza City, was killed, according to the IDF. “Throughout the war, Safadi was responsible for all sniper attacks against IDF troops operating in the Gaza City area,” the army said, adding that he had recently “repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement and attempted to train terrorists and organise further sniper attacks against IDF troops”.
