Turin, 17 July (LaPresse) – One of the reasons why a meeting between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu is not currently on the agenda is said to be the US President’s irritation at certain criticisms levelled at the United States by the Israeli Prime Minister. According to a US official quoted by Axios, Trump is said to have been furious following Netanyahu’s interview with Fox, in which the Israeli leader challenged the tycoon’s intention to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey. Another official reported that Trump is said to have stated that Netanyahu “has no right” to express his opinion on the matter. Relations were further complicated by a warning from Israeli intelligence regarding an alleged new Iranian plot to assassinate the US president whilst he was in Ankara for the NATO summit. However, sources cited by Axios reported that the Turkish security services had carried out investigations and concluded that there was no specific plan to assassinate Trump in the Turkish capital.
