Flotilla, Schlein: ‘Continue dialogue with Latin Patriarchate, government must protect it’

Milan, September 28 (LaPresse) – “We met with the Italian spokespersons of the Flotilla. We listened to them, and with respect for the autonomy of the Flotilla, we reiterated our support, as well as our hope that the dialogue channel between the Flotilla and the Latin Patriarchate remains open to ensure the goal of bringing aid to Gaza by creating a permanent humanitarian corridor while protecting the safety of the activists on board. The Italian government should do everything in its power to protect the safety of this peaceful and humanitarian mission. It is Netanyahu who is violating international law, not these activists, who need to be protected by governments, even by sending a European escort mission. We ask the Italian government to take the lead in promoting this and to act for the opening of a permanent humanitarian channel to bring essential aid to the Palestinian population.” So said the Secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein.
