Milan, Oct. 29 (LaPresse) – The budget approved by the government “is a balanced package, there are no conflicting approaches, and we have incorporated everyone’s requests. And there is a vision.” This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in an interview with Corriere della Sera. “Everything Forza Italia asked for has been included,” he noted: “income tax, zero taxes for young people up to the age of 30, cards for the elderly, car tax, and support for businesses. Of course, we had asked to lower the income tax rate to 33% for incomes up to 60,000 euros: we will do that in the next budget, we know that resources are limited. In any case, there is 1.6 billion euros for income tax, and the flat tax threshold is rising from 85,000 to 100,000 euros. The important thing is for the budget to revolve around four pillars: the middle class, young people, the elderly, and businesses. In a way that is compatible with the public finances.” What is he most pleased with? “It is difficult to say. The 1% flat-rate tax for those renting to young people, the bonus for those attending non-state schools, one additional month of parental leave for each additional child, and the 100-euro annual INPS bonus until the age of 18, which is the first little nest egg for every newborn. All these measures are in line with a liberal policy.” On the contribution requested from banks, he explained: “We had asked that cooperative credit banks and local banks not be affected and that profits not be taxed. But the contribution also requested from major energy operators has made the whole package fairer. I am against a tax on windfall profits, but it is right that those with substantial profits contribute more. Meanwhile, we have protected banking foundations, which will contribute very little because they support the third sector.”
