World Cup Qualifiers, Mbappé injured and misses Iceland-France

Milan, Oct. 11 (LaPresse) – France captain Kylian Mbappé will miss Monday’s World Cup qualifying match away to Iceland due to a right ankle injury. The Real Madrid star scored in France’s 3-0 win over Azerbaijan on Friday but left the pitch limping in the 83rd minute. Just before the international break, he injured the same ankle during a match against Villarreal. France confirmed on Saturday that their top striker would not travel to Reykjavik and would return to Real Madrid. Defender Ibrahima Konaté also left the squad on Saturday, replaced by Marseille’s Benjamin Pavard. Konaté was dealing with a minor thigh injury picked up during a Liverpool match against Chelsea last weekend. He did not play against Azerbaijan.
