Rome, Oct 12 (LaPresse) – “Workplace safety is an inalienable right, an investment in the value of the human being, in the profound meaning of work, and in the quality of life. With this spirit, I remember the victims and renew the Republic’s closeness to their families.” This is what the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, wrote on the occasion of the 75th National Day for the victims of workplace accidents, in a message sent to the President of Anmil, Antonio Di Bella.
“In Italy, every day, lives continue to be lost at work: the number of deaths and injuries remains tragically high, even compared to what happens in the rest of the European Union. Each victim is a face that must be given a voice. Behind each one, there are people, families, interrupted stories that must not be forgotten,” emphasizes the Head of State, adding that “our thoughts go to them, inspiring a collective commitment so that from pain a new awareness arises: the common will to build safer workplaces, where the life and dignity of every worker are always put first.”
Finally, “expressing gratitude to Anmil for its constant commitment, also in favor of the work and social inclusion of those who have suffered a workplace injury or occupational disease, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all participants so that this day helps strengthen a culture of prevention that protects life,” concludes Mattarella.
