This was reiterated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio speaking before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, during a heated exchange with Democratic MP Sara Jacobs. ‘If the war is over, who won?’ asked the Democratic MP. Rubio argued that it was a ‘fact’ that the military operation had ended. ‘We are no longer conducting sustained attacks inside Iran aimed at degrading their armed forces, as Operation Epic Fury is over,’ said the Secretary of State. “As for the second point — the question of who won — I can tell you this: we are the ones who define victory. We define victory as the destruction of their defence industrial base, a significant reduction in the number of missile launchers in their possession, and a drastic decrease in their drone stockpiles; well, we have achieved all these objectives, as well as destroying what remained of their air force and annihilating their entire conventional navy,” Rubio stated. ‘All of that no longer exists. Therefore, I consider this a victory, and that is how we have viewed it too. And that was precisely the aim of Epic Fury,’ he concluded.
