Madrid (Spain), 20 June (LaPresse) – Investigating judge Juan Carlos Peinado has ordered that the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Begoña Gómez, as well as his assistant at the Moncloa, Cristina Álvarez, and businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés, stand trial. This is according to the judge’s ruling, which was viewed by LaPresse. Gómez faces four charges: influence peddling, embezzlement, corruption and misappropriation of public funds. Alvarez faces the same alleged offences, whilst Barrabés is charged with two offences: influence peddling and corruption. Peinado has imposed precautionary measures on the First Lady: the withdrawal of her passport, a ban on leaving the country and the obligation to sign in every 15 days. He has also imposed the same precautionary measures on Alvarez.
