Milan, 23 June (LaPresse) – Two races in four days as he builds towards his season’s main target: the European Championships in Birmingham. Marcell Jacobs’ next two competitive engagements have been officially confirmed. The Italian Olympic champion in the 100 metres and the 4×100 metres in Tokyo will face 2024 Olympic gold medallist Noah Lyles once again following their clash at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea: on Sunday, they will be on the track in Paris for the eighth round of the Wanda Diamond League at the Charlety Stadium. On the straight at the French capital’s stadium, Jacobs will also face the other two Americans, Jordan Anthony and Trayvon Bromell, Britain’s Jeremiah Azu, and the trio of African sprinters: Emmanuel Eseme (Cameroon), Ferdinand Omanyala (Kenya) and Akani Simbine (South Africa). Jacobs is building on his 9.99 at the Stadio Olimpico, a time that saw him break the ‘9-second barrier’ again, twenty-two months after the final of the Paris Games when he clocked 9.85. The best time recorded this season among the participants is 9.88, which crowned Lyles ‘King of Rome’ on 4 June. The Fiamme Oro sprinter, coached by Paolo Camossi, will then be in action on Wednesday 1 July in Eisenstadt, Austria, at the Silver leg of the Continental Tour. As part of his build-up to Birmingham (10–16 August), where he will be aiming for a hat-trick following his gold medals in Monaco 2022 and Rome 2024, Jacobs will be among the stars at the Italian Senior Championships on 25 and 26 July at the Ridolfi Stadium in Florence.
