Rome, June 30. (LaPresse) – Charlie Kirk’s parents and widow will be present at the preliminary hearing into his murder, scheduled for July 6 in the state of Utah. This will be the first time the family of Turning Point USA founder will be in court before alleged killer Tyler Robinson, 23. During the week-long hearing, the prosecution will have to demonstrate that it has sufficient evidence to send Robinson back to trial. The young man is charged with the aggravated murder of Kirk, who was killed on September 10 with a gunshot wound to the neck while speaking in front of thousands of people at Utah Valley University. So far he has not yet entered a guilty plea. Prosecutors have announced they will seek the death penalty if convicted. Evidence they intend to present includes forensic analysis, video surveillance footage, testimony, autopsy results, and alleged messages in which Robinson admitted to the crime. According to investigators, the 23-year-old’s DNA was found on the trigger of the rifle used in the murder, on shell casings, and on a towel that wrapped the weapon. Among the elements of the accusation is a note left with his partner, in which he allegedly wrote: “I have the opportunity to eliminate Charlie Kirk and I will take it.” After her husband’s death, Erika Kirk took over the leadership of Turning Point USA. During the funeral, he said he forgave the alleged killer, but also argued for the judicial proceedings to be conducted with maximum transparency.
