Rome, 8 July (LaPresse) – The need for precautionary measures against Mario Adinolfi is justified by the fact that “there is a real and present danger of a repeat of criminal conduct of the same nature as that for which proceedings are being brought (Article 274(c) of the Code of Criminal Procedure): it has emerged that, following conduct that continued over many years (15–20) in relation to the ‘Scommessa Collettiva’ scheme, Adinolfi has recently set up a further scheme, ‘Cristo Regna’, and has already raised over €3,000.00: an initiative which appears to involve, in the same manner as the previous one and in an abusive manner, the raising of funds; in light of what has emerged so far, there are well-founded fears that this may once again lead to the defrauding of other victims and the commission of further tax offences”. This is stated by Rome’s investigating magistrate Giulia Arcieri in the order for pre-trial detention against the journalist and leader of the Popolo della Famiglia party. “Therefore,” she concludes, “there is a real risk of reoffending in relation to new acts of fraud, unauthorised fundraising and tax offences, which are likely already underway.”
