Rome, 15 July (LaPresse) – “Giorgia Meloni, you’ve really bolted yourself to Palazzo Chigi. Yesterday you lost the votes of your own majority on the electoral law, which you’ve been so stubbornly insisting on. Among other things, on the amendment regarding fake preferences.” So said M5S leader Giuseppe Conte in a video posted on social media. “In the referendum on justice, you lost the votes of the people, of the citizens,” he added. “You’ve lost the support of your international allies – the very ones to whom you’ve said ‘yes’ to everything. On military spending, you’ve brought the country to a standstill for four years to defend your power and save politicians from investigations. You haven’t bothered to take action on healthcare, the cost of living or wages. Giorgia Meloni, look around you. The only real quagmire is the one into which you have plunged the country. Anyone in your position would have faced the consequences. They would have resigned and moved to the Quirinale. Yet you, on the other hand, won’t budge from that armchair. Show a bit of honour, for goodness’ sake. A bit of institutional sensitivity, a bit of respect for parliamentary democracy.”
