Rome, 11 Oct. (LaPresse) – Lazio have no intention of slowing down and are taking this seriously. Gattuso’s side continue their winning run, beating Monza 3-1 at the Olimpico in their sixth league fixture of the season and drawing level with Inter at the top of the table. It’s a record-breaking start for the Biancocelesti (they’ve never before secured five wins in their first six matches), and they’re now free to dream big. Aggressive and brimming with confidence thanks to this positive start to the season, Lazio took the lead straight away through Tavares in the 3rd minute (with a powerful mid-range shot under the crossbar) and doubled their lead through Isaksen in the 23rd minute (following an assist from Noslin, he slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the bottom corner). In the 35th minute, they also found themselves with a numerical advantage following Lucchesi’s sending-off, but the Biancocelesti were unable to capitalise on it. Monza, in fact, fought back in the second half and immediately got back into the game with a header from Goglichidze following a corner. The Lombardy side took heart and put the Biancocelesti under pressure, who risked conceding an equaliser (Mandas made a crucial save from Mota), and it was only in the 88th minute that they banished their fears with Pinamonti’s goal, which ensured Lazio retained top spot in the table on 16 points alongside Inter, moving them two points clear of Roma. Juric’s Monza suffered their fourth defeat of the season and remain four points adrift.
