Rome, 27 Oct. (LaPresse) – “We must rebuild peace everywhere, not prepare for more wars! War can never be waged in the name of God!” This is the appeal made by Pope Leo XIV in a video message sent to participants at the international meeting ‘Unarmed and Disarming Peace’, organised by the Community of Sant’Egidio in Assisi, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Day of Prayer for Peace established by John Paul II in 1986. “For us believers,” the Pontiff continued, quoting his encyclical ‘Magnifica humanitas’, “to fight in the name of religion means, in reality, to strike at religion itself. There is no such thing as a holy war: only peace is holy!”
