Milan, 31 Oct. (LaPresse) – A rampant Roma side ran riot, thrashing Udinese 5-2 at their home ground in the early kick-off of the 10th matchday of Serie A. The Giallorossi’s first-half goals came from Cristante in the 10th minute, Rodrigo Mora in the 31st, Malen in the 33rd and Ndicka in the 37th, with Ghilardi adding another in the 92nd. Udinese’s goals were scored by former Roma player Zaniolo in the 51st minute and Palma in the 78th. Still without Dybala, Gasperini relied on a front three of Soulé, Mora and Malen. For Udinese, Runjaic started with Zaniolo and Ekkelenkamp supporting Davis. The Friulians were determined at the start, but crumbled like snow in the sun at the first sign of trouble. In fact, it took Roma just ten minutes to break the deadlock with a header from Cristante, following a cross from Wesley. After Soulé hit the post and Malen struck the crossbar with a spectacular effort, Mora doubled the lead from a Cristante assist. Udinese collapsed and, just two minutes later, conceded a third goal courtesy of the ever-relentless Malen, assisted by Soulé. Before half-time, Roma made it four with a header from Ndicka following a corner taken by Soulé. The second half was a mere formality. Udinese proudly pulled one back through former Roma player Zaniolo, who slotted home Gollini’s parry following Miller’s long-range effort. Roma were content to see out the game, but in the closing stages conceded Udinese’s second goal, scored by Palma in a goalmouth scramble. In stoppage time, Ghilardi restored Roma’s two-goal lead with a powerful right-footed strike under the crossbar. In the table, Roma remain third in the league with 24 points, one point behind the leading pair of Inter and Lazio. Udinese, by contrast, are in freefall, having suffered their fifth defeat in their last six matches and slipping to second-bottom. The feeling is that Runjaic’s spell in charge of the Friuli side has now come to an end.
