Milan, Nov. 4 (LaPresse) – The Haas team has confirmed that Esteban Ocon will no longer race for the team this season. Rafael Camara, a Ferrari junior driver and leader of the Formula 2 standings, will drive for Haas at the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix in São Paulo. During the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend, Ocon – who had already announced his departure from Haas at the end of the season – was replaced by reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa. In a statement, Team Principal Ayao Komatsu said: “We have informed Esteban Ocon that he will not return to a race seat with the TGR Haas F1 Team for the remainder of the season.” “Decisions of this nature are never taken lightly, as was the case ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix,” he added. “However, both then and now, we believe this decision is in the best interests of the team as we look to the future.” “The discussions between the team and Esteban remain an internal matter; we will continue to respect the confidential nature of these arrangements, which have been handled away from the public eye,” Komatsu concluded.
