Milan, 5 Nov. (LaPresse/AP) – The British Columbia Conservation Officer Service in Canada believes that more than one grizzly bear may have been involved in the attack in which a woman, Jenny Balcarras, and her daughter, Selah Reed, were killed in Bella Coola, on the province’s central coast. The first body was found on Monday, whilst the second was discovered on Tuesday afternoon by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and conservation officers. Family members had reported the two women missing on Sunday. The authorities have imposed a curfew in the community, situated around 1,000 kilometres north of Vancouver, whilst the search continues for the animal or animals responsible for the attack. If the ‘bear responsible’ is captured, it will be put down to ensure public safety, the police have said. Bella Coola is known for its large population of grizzly and black bears, and it is not unusual for residents to see bears roaming near their homes.
