Milan, 23 January (La Presse) – ‘We conducted a thorough visit and I spoke with all the healthcare professionals who are treating our young people. I was also able to greet the two young people who are being discharged this morning. The prognosis for them has been lifted by our doctors, so they can return home.’ This was stated by the Lombardy Region’s Welfare Councillor, Guido Bertolaso, during an update on the condition of the patients involved in the Crans-Montana tragedy and being treated at Niguarda Hospital. ‘They are two young men from Milan who attend two scientific high schools here in the city, and I must say that both they and their parents are obviously very happy with this arrangement,’ Bertolaso continued. “This does not mean that they are cured; obviously, they still have a long road ahead of them in terms of rehabilitation and medication, so they will come here several days a week for medication and rehabilitation activities. These activities have been organised mainly in the afternoon because the doctors believe that in a couple of weeks they will both be able to return to school, which is really good news because I can assure you that when they arrived, we were not so sure that they would be able to return to normality within a month.”
