Genoa, 19 June (LaPresse) – The detention order against Mohammad Hannoun, a 62-year-old Jordanian architect and president of the Association of Palestinians in Italy, has been upheld. He was arrested last December in Genoa as part of an investigation into funding for Hamas, along with eight other individuals believed to be members and financiers of the terrorist group’s Italian cell. Following the decision by the Review Court, Hannoun will remain in Terni prison, a ruling also confirmed for three other suspects. Regarding the need for preventive detention, after the Court of Cassation had raised doubts about the substance of the charges, the 62-year-old’s lawyers had requested his release, which had been granted in recent months to three other compatriots involved in the investigation.
