Rome, 20 June (LaPresse) – Japan’s Ai Ogura has secured pole position for the Czech Republic Grand Prix. The Aprilia Trackhouse rider, with a time of 1’51″139, finished 211 thousandths of a second ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio’s VR46 Ducati; third was Francesco Bagnaia’s Ducati, followed by World Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi on the factory Aprilia, Marc Márquez (Ducati) and Diogo Moreira (Honda). Jorge Martin, on the other Aprilia, will start from tenth on the grid. For Ogura, this is his first pole position in the top class, and he is the first Japanese pole-sitter since the 2020 Teruel Grand Prix (Takaaki Nakagami). At 25 years, 4 months and 26 days, Ogura is the youngest Japanese pole-sitter in history, beating Daijiro Katoh’s record of 26 years, 3 months and 2 days set at Motegi in 2002.
