Ukraine, Zelensky: ‘China should contribute to peace efforts, sanctions are working’

Rome, 30 October (LaPresse) – “We have preliminary and detailed intelligence assessments on the impact of our partners’ new sanctions against the Russian war machine. This is a lot of information, and based on this, we are adapting our communication with partners in view of further restrictive measures. Sanctions against oil companies are already causing significant losses to Russia. We predict that if the pressure on Moscow continues in a consistent and decisive manner, the losses resulting from the recently introduced measures will be at least $50 billion per year.‘ This was written on X by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. ’We have already received signals that our partners intend to adopt further sanctions packages. The volumes of oil placed on the global market by Arab countries can certainly prevent any destabilisation or price increases that Russia is talking about to sow fear,‘ he added. ’We have also initiated a regular exchange of data with key countries regarding Russian individuals and schemes that should be sanctioned. And our partners are already considering a significant portion of our proposals. I am grateful for that. The measures relating to the Russian tanker fleet, which we discussed with European leaders at the recent meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, must now be fully implemented,” Zelensky explained. Oleh Ivashchenko, head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, also reported on the mood and short-term plans of the Chinese leadership in light of Russia’s war against our country. It is important that China contributes to efforts to stop Russia’s continued attempts to expand and prolong the conflict. Our diplomats will receive relevant instructions based on information from recent meetings in the region. I thank everyone who is helping us,” the Ukrainian president concluded.
