Frankfurt (Germany), 1 July (LaPresse) – ‘Even after the war in Ukraine ends, Russia will continue to pose a long-term threat to Euro-Atlantic security’. This was stated by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte during a press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius in Berlin. Rutte emphasised that “the Allies agree that pressure on Russia must be maintained” and announced that the Alliance’s next summit will bring new commitments in support of Kyiv. “Next week, the Allies will make commitments to support Ukraine that will be enduring, predictable and long-term,” he said. The Secretary-General concluded by thanking Berlin for the role it has played in supporting Kyiv: “Germany is Europe’s leading supporter of Ukraine’s freedom and sovereignty. We thank the German government for the leadership it has shown on this issue.”
