Turin, 10 July (LaPresse) – Tim Merlier won the seventh stage of the Tour de France in a sprint finish, the 175 km flat stage from Hagetmau to Bordeaux. The Belgian sprinter from Soudal-Quick Step prevailed in a bunch sprint ahead of Norway’s Soren Waerenskjold (Uno-X Mobility) and Eritrea’s Biniam Girmay (NSM Cycling Team). There were no changes to the general classification: UAE Team Emirates captain Tadej Pogacar remains in the lead with a 2’38” advantage over Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma Lease a Bike) and 2’57” over his team-mate Isaac Del Toro. Tomorrow’s stage is another one for sprinters: the 180 km route from Périgueux to Bergerac, with no significant climbs.
