Milan, 10 July (LaPresse) – Alexander Zverev is the first finalist at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the season. The German tennis player, ranked number 3 in the world and seeded second, and recent winner of Roland Garros, comfortably defeated Britain’s Arthur Fery in the semi-final, winning 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-3 in just over two and a half hours of play. For Zverev, this is his first career final at Wimbledon and his fifth Grand Slam final. The German becomes the third man in the Open Era to reach the final of the next Grand Slam after winning his first Major, following Andy Murray and Daniil Medvedev. Zverev had never gone beyond the round of 16 in his previous nine appearances at Wimbledon; he is now the first German to reach the men’s singles final since Boris Becker’s seven appearances. In the final, Zverev will face the winner of the second semi-final between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.
