Milan, 13 July (LaPresse) – There have been several changes for Italian players in the women’s world rankings published this morning by the WTA following the conclusion of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the year. Once again this week, there are two Italian players in the top 100. The top Italian player remains Jasmine Paolini: the 30-year-old from Bagni di Lucca, who dropped out of the top ten at the end of May (where she had remained continuously since 7 June 2024, following her run to the final at Roland Garros), has climbed two places to 15th thanks to her quarter-final run on the grass at the All England Club (where she was defeated by Kostyuk). Failure to retain the points from last year’s third round at Wimbledon, however, has cost Elisabetta Cocciaretto twenty-two places, seeing her drop to number 68. Compared with the previous ranking, Tyra Caterina Grant has climbed thirty-one places thanks to her second-round run at Wimbledon after coming through the qualifiers: the 18-year-old from Rome has climbed to number 141 and set yet another ‘personal best’.
