Brussels, May 22 (LaPresse) – “The United States continues to have global commitments to meet in terms of force deployment, and this requires us to constantly review where we place troops. This is not a punishment, but an ongoing trial, pre-existing all the recent news, tensions and so on. So it’s a process that will continue and that I believe will be carried out very positively and productively, in collaboration with our allies.” US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this at a joint press briefing with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the alliance’s Foreign Ministerial meeting in Sweden, recalling Donald Trump’s announcement of troops in Poland. “As with any alliance, it must be beneficial for everyone involved. There must be a clear understanding of expectations. And so we will certainly try to lay the groundwork for that. One of the areas where I believe we can certainly cooperate is the defense industrial base,” he adds.
NATO, Rubio: “Repositioning US troops is not punitive and will continue.”
